What Makes a Great Headline?

SIMPLICITY.....
Yes, no more than 5 to 7 maximum words to “grab” the reader’s attention. This will get them to do what I call a “double take” at that headline and you have approximately 3 to 5 seconds to grab a reader’s attention and in those short words they make a decision to read or not to read what that topic is all about.
Personally, the topic has to be something of value to me, otherwise I probably will not invest my precious time to even look at that article.
We live in a time where information is coming at us from all over and we have to be very focussed what we spend our time reading and hopefully learning something new that will improve our life.
I have discovered 3 guidelines that make a great headline. These are as follows below:
1. Simple and Short
As mentioned, no more than 7 words maximum that is about all the mind can comprehend when scanning a topic to be considered investing time to read.
2. Importance
The topic has to be important to the reader, otherwise they will not spend a second reading any more than just the headline, and time is valuable.

3. Timely
Is this headline going to be helping me today with something I have not attended to doing, learning, knowing.
It is said there are no coincidences, no accidents, things happen for a reason. If you happen to be of that mindset then this last point is for you, you are drawn to read that article because it is something you need to know right that moment.
There are more theories on this topic.
Should you have any suggestions or questions please feel free to make a comment and I will address your concern in a future blog.
